Kraus Corset Factory
Roosevelt Dr and Third St, Derby This large brick industrial building forms an obtuse angle at the corner of Roosevelt Dr and Third St. The original brick part of the building was constructed in 1879, followed by several additions, most of which have been removed.

This example of 19th century mill architecture is the best surviving building associated with corset manufacture, an important local industry. Later it was used for another important local industry, pin manufacture.

In 1987 the factory was converted into apartment buildings and today it is known as Derby Manor.

Plumb Memorial Library
47 Wooster Street, Shelton
A Richardsonian Romanesque style library built in 1895 by Charles T. Beardsley, it features yellow brick, reddish brownstone trim, a red slate roof and a prominent square tower.

It is an exceptional example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style in Connecticut, a style which was popular in the late 19th century for public buildings, particularly libraries.

H. H. Richardson popularized a unique architectural style, named after him, that drew on Romanesque features and used strong massing, round arches, recessed entrances, rusticated stone and other features present in this example.

Shelton History Center
70 Ripton Rd, Shelton
The Brownson House, a Greek Revival home built around 1822, was the first aquisition by the Society. It is furnished as a middle class farm from the 19th century and used to show the life of average people from the period.

The center also includes the Wilson Barn, which remains in its original location where it was built in about 1860. The barn houses a permanent exhibit called Three Centuries of Shelton—From Farming to Industry and Beyond.

The third large building on the site is the Trap Fall School. This one room schoolhouse was built in 1872 and was eventually acquired by Bridgeport Hydraulic Company and used for storage before it became part of the center in 1971.

Huntington Center Historic District
Roughly along Church St and Huntington St from Ripton Rd to Farmill River, Shelton
Located in the original colonial settlement in Shelton, the district runs along Church and Huntington Streets. It includes the Huntington Green and Cemetery as well as an industrial site, two churches and houses from the early 18th century to 1942.

The evolution of a colonial parish center to a lively 19th century village and then an early 20th century suburb is seen here through well-preserved architecture that includes early colonial houses and later Federal, Greek and Gothic Revival homes.

The Huntington Green was laid out in 1717 and once served as the town commons and training ground for the local militia. Now it is an informally landscaped community park, situated around a diagonal footpath that was once a road.
